In May 2024, we completed a spin-off of VinES’ core operations and assets to a new subsidiary, VinEG, and subsequently transferred VinES to Mr. Pham for zero consideration. As a result, VinES is no longer a subsidiary of our company, and our subsidiary, VinEG, continues to conduct battery pack assembly and battery cell manufacturing activities for our group.
Comparison for the Six Months Ended June 30, 2023 and 2024
Revenues
Our revenues increased by VND5,283.0 billion, or 53.3%, to VND15,196.1 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND9,913.1 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in revenue from sales of vehicles.

Sales of vehicles. Our revenue from sales of vehicles increased by VND4,439.5 billion, or 49.3%, to VND13,452.9 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND9,013.5 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in the vehicle sales volume.

Sales of merchandise. Our revenue from sales of merchandise increased by VND21.7 billion, or 56.8%, to VND60.0 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND38.3 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in the used automobiles sales volume in the first half of 2024.

Sales of spare parts and components. Our revenue from sales of spare parts and components increased by VND269.6 billion, or 72.4%, to VND641.9 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND372.3 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in the volume of spare parts and components sold.

Rendering of services. Our revenue from the rendering of services increased by VND436.0 billion, or 252.1%, to VND609.0 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND173.0 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in charging services and maintenance services provided at our service centers.

Revenue from leasing activities. Our revenue from leasing activities increased by VND116.2 billion, or 36.8%, to VND432.2 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND316.1 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in revenue from the leasing of cars and e-scooter batteries, which was mainly due to an increase in the number of EVs and e-scooters batteries on lease in both operating and sale-type leases.
Cost of sales
Our cost of sales increased by VND7,793.9 billion, or 46.8%, to VND24,461.5 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND16,667.6 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in the cost of vehicles and merchandise sold, leasing activities and rendering services, partially offset by a decrease in the costs of spare parts and components sold.

Cost of vehicles sold. Our cost of vehicles sold increased by VND6,998.2 billion, or 44.7%, to VND22,657.4 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2024 compared to VND15,659.2 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2023, primarily due to an increase in the delivery of our EVs to customers.
